Job Description:

Registered Nurse (RN) needed for a 36-private bed unit specializing in cardiac care for patients who have had open heart surgery.
The ideal candidate will provide professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients, administer prescribed medications, and monitor patient vital signs.
Responsibilities include:

• 
  
• Preparing equipment and assisting physician during examinations and treatments
  
• Administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, and cleaning wounds
  
• Monitoring patient vital signs and observing and maintaining records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress
  
• Participating as primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and implementing of patient care
  
• Directing and assisting in carrying out safe aseptic technique and procedures
  
  The 6NT unit is a fast-paced environment where staff are trained to detect medical issues before they become a problem, allowing for quick and confident responses.
  Requirements:
  
  • 
    
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care
    
  • One-year experience in nursing preferred
    
  • Current Texas State RN License
    
  • CPR (American Heart Association)
    
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire/transfer date
    
  • EKG within 90 days of hire/transfer
    
  • NIHSS within 90 days of hire/transfer
